- חוּשְׁלָא
- חוּשְׁלָאm. (חשל; v. P. Sm. 140 4) 1) pounded grain. Targ. Ez. 27:17 quot. in Rashi (ed. ריחוש). 2) peeled barley. Yoma 79a without the husk ח׳ קרי לה Ms. M. a. Ar. (ed. אוּשְׁלָא) it is called ḥushla (not שעורה). Snh.27a bot. Ḥull.51a.Pl. חוּשְׁלֵי. B. Kam.30b bot. אפקר ח׳ ed. (Ms. M. אוּשְׁלֵי, Ms. H. חֲשִׁילֵי) declared as free property peeled barley (which one had spread on public ground for drying). M. Kat. 16b קא מניפה חוּשְׁלָאֵי (omitted in Ms., v. Babb. D. S. a. l.) was winnowing peeled barley.
